About Us

OZ Kids International (OK) was founded in 2008 and is based in Townsville Australia. As an Incorporated Association we are governed by a seven-member board. We are a faith-based not-for-profit organisation committed to helping the most needy first, with the eight Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s) as our blueprint.

Goal1. Eradicate extreme hunger

Goal 2. Achieve universal primary education.

Goal 3. Promote gender equality and empower woman.

Goal4. Reduce child mortality.

Goal 5. Improve maternal health.

Goal 6. Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases.

Goal7. Ensure environmental sustainability.

Goal 8. Develop a global partnership for development.

The MDG's are a United Nations initiative, all 192 member states have agreed to achieve by 2015.

Progress toward reaching the goals has been uneven. Some countries have achieved many of the goals, while others are not on track to meet any.

African countries comprise 34 of the world’s 50 poorest and least developed countries, Africa lags behind all other regions in progress toward the (MDG’s), the majority of Sub-Saharan countries are not on track to meet the target date of 2015.

OK's aid program in Zambia focuses on a region where we can make the most difference to the lives of those with the greatest need.

Zambia is a land-locked nation in the heart of Southern Africa, surrounded by eight other countries where there are serious development challenges, including ongoing instability and conflict.

In September 2008 OK (Zambia) received a certificate of registration to operate a “Children’s Home” and “Community Development Centre”.

Thus the “Mazabuka Orphanage” was officially opened by the District commissioner and Town Mayor in January 2009, it is now the base for all our community development projects. Current and future.

OK (Zambia) is governed by a 10 member board comprising of project managers from other NGO’s and government employees from the health, education and police departments, including the Australian founders/directors. (all volunteers).
